Case Study: Jentro Technologies UK

Jentro Technologies GmbH approached Trilogy to support the UK launch of Active Pilot, cutting edge technology that offers GPS satellite navigation for mobile phones. The initial 3 year agreement was for Trilogy to supply warehousing, distribution, IT support and ancillary services.

Moving toward the launch of the product and with key retailers having committed to print and advertising around the specific date, it became apparent to Jentro that due to circumstances outside of their control, assembling the finished goods before shipment to the UK would cause this date to be missed.

The team at Jentro needed a production partner that could offer a flexible, cost effective solution, assembling the finished goods locally, while maintaining the published launch date and without significantly affecting the final cost of goods.

Trilogy's production team's brief was two-fold:

  • Firstly, undertake a theoretical time and motion study for the assembly of the finished retail package from a list of components and report back on the estimated man-hours needed to complete the initial launch quantity in time to be delivered to retail for the published date.
  • Secondly, working in partnership with Jentro UK, asses the existing build of materials and compile a report demonstrating that by sourcing a selection of the materials locally and combining this with a flexible personnel plan, they could maintain the original ROI for the launch.

In the event, the project achieved its aims and all products were delivered on time for the successful launch in July. From the basis of this success, Trilogy has now been awarded the additional contract to provide the ongoing assembly of all Jentro UK's shipments of Active Pilot.
